Our Mission

To empower families affected by autism through comprehensive resources, culturally responsive support, and advocacy that creates meaningful connections and sustainable pathways to success.

Our Vision

A nation where every family navigating autism has access to the resources, support, and community connections they need to thrive, regardless of location or background.

Impact Across America

Since 2015, Autism Urban Connections Inc. has grown from a community-based effort in Pittsburgh to a statewide support network across Pennsylvania by 2020. In 2026, the National Connection Hub expands this impact nationwide — connecting autism families across all 50 states to trusted resources and support.

Real Families. Real Connection.

From family group gatherings and children at play to parent meetings and community celebrations — this is AUC Inc. in action.

Built From Love,
Led With Purpose

“Every family navigating autism deserves a seat at the table — not just a pamphlet at the door. We built this Hub so no family has to figure it out alone.”

— Jamie Upshaw, MS, MA  ·  Founder & Executive Director, AUC Inc.

Jamie Upshaw founded Autism Urban Connections Inc. in Pittsburgh in 2015 with a clear and urgent mission: to ensure that Black and Brown families affected by autism have access to the same quality of support, resources, and advocacy that every family deserves. With advanced degrees and years of direct community work, Jamie has dedicated her career to dismantling the systemic barriers that too often leave underserved families navigating one of life’s most complex journeys without a guide.

What began as a grassroots community effort in Pittsburgh has grown into a statewide and now national platform — connecting autism families across all 50 states to trusted, vetted, and culturally responsive resources. The National Connection Hub is the next chapter of that promise.
